SCLARC Early Start (birth to 3)

Who qualifies
Children under 36 months who live in SCLARC's area and have a 25% or greater delay in one or more areas, a known condition likely to cause delay, or high risk from two or more risk factors. Children whose only issue is vision, hearing or severe orthopedic impairment are referred to the school district instead.
How to apply
Anyone (parent, doctor, relative, child care provider) can refer. Submit the Early Start referral form online at intake.sclarc.org, call (213) 744-7000 ext. 3226, fax (213) 947-4115, or email earlystartintake@sclarc.org. Foster children: contact the DCFS social worker. SCLARC completes evaluations within 45 days of the referral.
What it is
Early Start is free early intervention for babies and toddlers who are behind in talking, moving, learning or social skills. SCLARC evaluates the child, and if eligible, writes an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) with services delivered at home or in the community.
