Low-income Los Angeles County residents. Self-help centers help people representing themselves.
How to apply
Call the General Legal Assistance line at 800-433-6251, or apply through the online intake form. For health coverage problems, call the Health Consumer Center at 800-896-3202. For court forms help, visit a Self-Help Legal Access Center (see the brochure on their site).
What it is
NLSLA gives free civil legal help to low-income LA County residents. Areas include eviction and foreclosure defense, public benefits, healthcare access, domestic violence and family law, immigration, workers' rights, consumer debt, and education rights. It also runs free Self-Help Legal Access Centers in courthouses.
