§ ON VIEW · ALONDRA PROJECTS
New painting and collage from the Southland
§ THE SHORT VERSION
Sunday Best is a show of new work by Renata Vashon, Inés Calderón and June Ortiz at Alondra Projects (Alondra Blvd, Compton, CA), on view October 10, 2026 to December 19, 2026. Admission: Free
A group show of new work by two painters and a collage artist, from Long Beach, Lynwood and Leimert Park. Renata Vashon's oil portraits of the family interior, Inés Calderón's collages built from the shoebox archive, and June Ortiz's color-field canvases of Los Angeles light.
Sunday best is what you wear when you want the people who see you to know you thought about them. Every piece in this room was made that way: slowly, for somebody specific, with the good china out.
Start with Vashon's dinner table at the door and go left. The collages hang in the middle room at eye level, close enough to read the thread. Ortiz's paintings are in the back room with a bench, because they change if you sit with them.
Most of the work is for sale, and a few pieces are priced for first-time collectors. Ask at the desk. The artists are in the room on Saturdays.
A note: the artists in this show are demo personas created for the Knect preview, the gallery is fictional and the work was generated with Higgsfield AI.
§ CURATOR’S NOTE
“Three artists, three ways of dressing up for the people you love: a portrait in oil, a collage of the family album, a canvas the color of the evening sky. Nobody here is painting for an art fair. They are painting for the room.”
