§ EXHIBIT · PINE AVENUE PHOTO HOUSE
Three photographers of the Southland
§ THE SHORT VERSION
Hold Still is a show of new work by Dorian Moseley, Yesenia Bañuelos and Lionel Bassett at Pine Avenue Photo House (Pine Ave, Long Beach, CA), on view November 6, 2026 to December 31, 2026. Admission: Free
Three photographers, three ways of asking somebody to hold still: Dorian Moseley's black-and-white street portraits from Compton, Yesenia Bañuelos's color documentary of the weekend in South LA and the Gateway Cities, and Lionel Bassett's studio portraits on backdrops he paints himself.
The first room is black and white and quiet. The second is loud with color: swap meets, quinceañeras, car washes, the ice cream truck. The third is the studio, with one of Bassett's painted backdrops hung on the wall so you can stand where his sitters stood.
All three photographers ask before they shoot and give their subjects a print. The show's wall labels name the sitters who wanted to be named.
Editions are small and priced from $900. Ask at the desk.
A note: the artists in this show are demo personas created for the Knect preview, the gallery is fictional and the work was generated with Higgsfield AI.
§ CURATOR’S NOTE
“A street photographer, a party photographer and a studio photographer walk into the same city. What comes out is the family album of the Southland, and every sitter in it said yes first.”
