Cookies.
The small files and ids that keep you signed in, remember your choices, and tell us what is working.
LAST UPDATED OCTOBER 9, 2026
What these are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. The Knect apps and the Roku channel use similar storage on the device (app storage, the Roku registry) and device identifiers. "First-party" cookies are set by Knect; "third-party" cookies are set by another company, such as Google.
Essential
Needed for Knect to work. They cannot be switched off in our settings, only by blocking them in your browser, which will break sign-in and checkout.
| NAME | WHAT IT DOES | LASTS |
|---|---|---|
| sb-* (Supabase) | Keeps you signed in and secures your session. | Session to 1 year |
| knect_consent | Remembers your answer to the cookie banner. | 1 year |
| culture-lang | Your language. | 1 year |
| hc-biz | Which business a manager is working on in the back office. | Session to 30 days |
| knect-ws | Which dashboard workspace you last used. | 1 year |
| knect_shell | Whether the page is open inside the Knect app. | Session |
| active_city, hubcity_active_city | A city you chose, where one is chosen. | 1 year |
| knect_yt_state | Protects the YouTube connection step for creators. | 10 minutes |
Playback and viewer ids
| NAME | WHAT IT DOES | LASTS |
|---|---|---|
| vk | A random viewer id so playback, resume, view counts and ad frequency limits work when you are not signed in. | 1 year |
| hc_viewer_key | The same, for live streams. | 1 year |
Measurement and attribution (first party)
Set by Knect to understand what brought you and to credit creators and advertisers. They are not shared with other companies.
| NAME | WHAT IT DOES | LASTS |
|---|---|---|
| knect_ft | The first link or campaign that brought you. | 90 days |
| knect_lt | The latest link or campaign that brought you. | 30 days |
| knect_via | Creator share links you arrived through, so the creator is credited when you buy. | 30 days |
| k_click | An ad you tapped, so the advertiser can be told the ad worked. | 7 days |
Analytics (Google)
Google Analytics measures visits to the website. Until you choose "That's fine" in the banner, it runs in a restricted mode that sets no cookies and sends only basic cookieless signals. If you agree, it sets its own cookies (named _ga and _ga_*, lasting up to 2 years). When you are signed in, your Knect account id is attached so visits across devices count once. Google's use is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we keep Google's advertising features off.
Apps and TV
The iPhone and Android apps contain no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. They keep sign-in tokens, preferences and a viewer id on the device, and send usage events to Knect's servers (which may forward them to Google Analytics). Mux Data measures playback quality in the apps and on the web. On Roku, the channel stores a random id and, for ads, the Roku advertising framework reads the TV's advertising id unless you turn on Limit Ad Tracking.
Your controls
Choose in the cookie banner. To change your answer, clear cookies for getknect.app (the banner returns) or use Your Privacy Choices. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and turn on Global Privacy Control in browsers that support it. We do not respond to "Do Not Track" signals, for which there is no common standard. Questions: hello@getknect.app.
