Odessa Lamarr is a textile artist based in Inglewood, CA (a demo persona on Knect).
Odessa Lamarr has been quilting since she was nine and showing the quilts since she was sixty. A retired school nurse in Inglewood, she pieces story quilts from her family's clothes: her husband's work denim, her daughters' church dresses, a grandson's kente graduation stole. The quilts tell the Great Migration in her own family's terms, from a Mississippi Delta farm to a stucco house near the Forum, and they are stitched by hand.
